1 year check-up - Good results!
This week, I'm walking further, getting out with family and friends more, and having more energy. Still waiting to hear my pathology results. We'll be meeting with the surgeon and oncologist on Tuesday to talk about the results and learn what's next.
Since my white blood cells and immune system should be back to normal, I definitely amped up my social events over the last week! We went to a couple outdoor graduation parties, met Suzi and Jenny and their partners to celebrate me finishing my chemotherapy and surgery and thank them for all their help along the way, went to a church picnic, and walked with friends. It's kind of wonderful and kind of exhausting to be with large groups of people again! I think I've forgotten how to interact!
My walking speed has stayed very slow so I don't jiggle, but I've gotten a bit faster and have been going further - I think I got as far as 1.7 miles one day. A huge improvement over only being able to walk to the mailbox 10 days ago!
I've been showering and washing my hair with no problem since a few days after the surgery. This week, I've started to have some body odor again, so it's good I can shower! No smell or hair in my armpits yet, so that's nice.
Suzi took some black and white portraits of me and Frank, back during chemotherapy when we were still bundling up in the cold, and she said I could share them, so you are in for a treat - here they are!
Some photos of our recent celebration gathering with the kids!
Those black & white photos are beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
